Biological Sciences

Biological Science Division of ICMR-NIOH is dedicated to advancing knowledge and research in occupational health and safety. In order to address challenges associated with worker’s health, scientists of the division work on distinct areas including heavy metal toxicity, reproductive toxicology, silicosis, gut-microflora-brain axis, neurobehavioral pharmacology, immune responses in health and disease, identification of biomarkers for occupational diseases and health informatics. Division is well funded with research projects from funding agencies including ICMR, DBT, DST etc. Division hosts PhD students and Post-Docs through MoUs with different universities and research academies. With state-of-the-art laboratories and a team of expert scientists, the Biological Science Division stands at the forefront of occupational health research, striving to improve the well-being of India’s workforce.
