Objective

  • To develop, implement, and evaluate informatics algorithms and tools for advancing health sciences discoveries, improving healthcare, monitoring and preventing disease.
  • To develop database on occupational exposures and diseases, and to encourage modern biological research
  • Spread awareness about interventions and recent developments to improve workers’ health in various occupational through IEC (Information, Education, and Communications).
  • To educate the future leaders in our field for academic, industry, and government careers
  • To implement and support practical informatics tools that make a difference in health sciences research.

Functions of the Department

  1. Carried out research on health informatics
  2. To provide IT Infrastructure and facilitate IT enabled Services to the institute.
  3. Provisioning, Maintenance and Management of IT Infrastructure Consisting of:-
    1. Computer Hardware ( Servers/ Desktop/ Laptops/ Printers/ Scanner and System Software)
    2. Local Area Network (LAN) including Switches/Routers/NMS etc.
    3. Internet connectivity using Internet Gateway/National Knowledge Network link
    4. Network Servers (Domain Controller server, Domain Name Server, Firewall /Security Appliances, Antivirus servers etc.)
    5. Application Servers (Database Management servers).
    6. Audio/ Video- Conferencing Services.
  4. Development and Maintenance of the NIOH Website / portal
  5. Facilitation and support for division specific Legacy Applications functional at various divisions units
  6. Assistance and support to Scientists related IT issues.
  7. Technical Advisory /coordination to divisions on their IT related work.
